Film Review Drishyam 2

Recently saw Drishyam 2 on Amazon prime. I have seen the part 1 of the Drishyam series starring Ajay Devgan. The movie is realling interesting with all its revealations and plot twists. However, to make the movie exprience more gripping, one should first see the hindi version of DRishyam 1. However, some of the parts looked over the top in the sense Sam's mother (mordered boy's mom -Tabu), even after withdrawing from police is used to deploy 2 serving female and male police staff and posing them as husband wife and buyer of Ajay Devgan's property. There 2 police staff is deployed for 7 years, over which they bug the house of Ajay Devgan and take recordings as we are later shown. From a logical stand point this looks highly illogical in the sense you require a degree of government approval for a closed case to deploy man and resource based on suspicion. Anyways it is shown that the whole town believed that Ajay Devgan has actually murdered and talks shit behind his back and

Yashoda Telegu Movie Review

The movie is very much realistic and based on stem cell treatment to reverse ageing using stem cells extracted from human foetuses. the movie is without any song, at least the version I say on amazon prime had no songs in it. I saw it with Hindi dubbing and the dubbing was good, it didnt feel outof place. It showed how the desire to stay beautiful and relevant, supported with political power and misplaced medical ethics led to the development of a statewide secret organization with its front face as a cosmetics company. However, in the back end the company was anonymously procuring poor women of child bearing age to become surrogate mothers and taking them to an underground secret facility until they are artificially induced with pain and killed and the foetuses are extracted and stored for stem cell harvesting which are then sold as age reversal treatments to rich people globally. Initially, the film appeared like a surrogacy scam where surrogate mothers were killed in operation thea

Movie Review: Ram Setu

The movie starts with a very unimpressive scene. Anyways I heard the theme was interesting so I kep watching. It showed taliban attacking an archeological site of Aryan Kulsrestha (Hindu) supported by Pakistanis and the afghan army is defending it. Now! if we put it correctly, Taliban were holed up until the US left and had no ground control. India had more presence and hold in Afghanistan than Pakistan, even now when Taliban has taken over the place. It is also shown than the spoils of the excavation site were taken into pakistan where a press conference of all pakistani press was hailing INdo-Pak brotherhood theme. Aryan Kulasrestha is shown as an aethiest and a nerd, with unshaven face like Viru Sahashra budhddhi ( Movie - 3 idiots). Then it is shown that the government in alliance with an industrialist - all of them Hindus collaborate with destroy a part of Ram setu on Indian side to allow shipping passage, for which they were fighting court case in supreme court. Here also we see

A Bengali's Review: ponniyin selvan movie part 1

I had the opportunity of wathing this movie and I heard that this movie is a movie adaptation of a novel from the same name. The movie is worth watching and has a very engaging and complicated plot of trechery and shifting alliance alongside obedience and faithfulness. Moreover, it carried a strong undercurrent of being nationalistic and to rise above personal aspirations and the be part of the national missio, vision and value. Just the ingredients missing among the wokes of India presently. Anyways! I wouuld like to divided the the Movie into different logical segments that I identified:  Equal Rights for Women In the chola dynasty Woemn had say in affairs of politics, foreign policy and family negotiations and policy making. The Chola Emperor is seen taking advice from his daughter in the absence of his 2 sons. The same princess is seen to be coming in a room full of "male" Cheftains who were supposedly plotting to overthrow her father and breaking their plot through a co

2022 Movie Review: Rocketry The Nambi Effect

I saw the movie in its original language 2 days back on amazon prime. The movie wonderfully depicted the work life and contribution and suffering Nambi Narayan faced socially, career-wise, family life and criminal proceedings. The movie scores very low in woke score. It doesnt insult Hindu customs and traditions in any way. It also highlights patriotism, self respect of an educated man and his genius in moving India from solid state fuel to liquid fuel. Building/assembling knocked down unit of 2 Russian cryogenic engines without any user manual and guidance. The movie starts with Sanskrit shloka and in the movie it has been shown that Nambi Narayan is both science minded and traditional in terms of practicing Hindu customs, traditional dresses. Much of the story is revealed in the form of an interview which Mr. Nambi Narayan is giving in a TV show. Towards the end the character of Nambi Narayan played by ace actor Madhavan transforms into actual Nambi Narayan who does a guest appearan

A Bengali's Review of Marathi Movie Jeevan Sandhya

Hello Readers! I have watched this movie only last week sunday. I liked the trailer very much. I dont know marathi so I was watching it with english subtitles. I also want to make a declaration in the very beginning that I have watched movies of 22 nations due to which the plot most often than not becomes "somewhat" obvious which was also is the case for this movie and also the cause of my liking for this movie. The movie opens with a scene where the senior citizen hero emerges out of a car and enters a law firm. He is followed by his wife. Their conversation confuses and sparks the curiosity of the law office receptionist who enquires about their reason for arrival to the law firm. Now the 1st part of the movie starts with the narration by the hero - Jivan abhyankar how he met his new wife after his 1st wife's death and the relaitionship developed into a love marriage. It also showed how negatively the son's and daughters of this aged couple reacted when they heard

A Bengalee's review of Hindi movie Toilet Ek Prem katha

The film is a realistic view of 2 India's that exist inside India. One, "Bharat" and the other one is "India". We see  a very realistic description of "Bharat" which is still rooted in backwardness, misinterpretation of religious tenets by senior members of the society and  even by senior family members (like parents). It also shows what difficulty Indian women has to face and the physical abuse risks they are exposed by the mere fact of going out for relieving themselves in the open. The most important fact is the film is based on true life event of real people, whose original pictures were shared at the end of the film. I hope people who has seen the film has not turned off their TV the moment the film ended. It still shocks me how can people think that a lady (Anushka Sharma), who is also  client, of Shakrukh Khan ( tour guide) in "Jab Harry Met Sejal" behave in the way she has been shown to behave in the film. The shocking thing is

A Bengalee Film Buff's Review:Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

Review from an audience about Film :Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

I have read the reviews in some of the leading newspapers' online editions on this film. I feel they have been bribed to give a biased review. The film as I found is a world where one man (Ayan,i.e., Ranvir kapoor) leads an uncommitted life with 3 ladies who themselves are polygamous(The first chick who is a christian,2 remaining - Anushka Sharma and Aishwariya Rai Bacchan who are muslims). The film is wholely shot in foreig locations as all these people happen to be working or studying and staying abroad. Ranvir kapoor is shown as a MBA student who does everything else except studies. Anushka Sharma, has a lot of time for Ranvir Kapoor and yoga and stuff. all the characters in this film show people with disturbed past lives - Ayan's mother(Ranvir Kapoor's character) fled with someone else and his filthy rich dad doesnt like him. So, Ayan received his mental condition from his easily available attitude from his mother and living life king size from his dad. He

Bengali Film Review: Dutta Versus Dutta

The film produced by Mr. Anjan Dutta - Dutta Versus Dutta, said to be a biographical depiction of the time period around 1970's kolkata. The film centers around Dutta Mansion and depicts the earlier life of Mr. Anjan Dutta and the family set-up in which he grew up.The film shows his view on life and how things went about in those days. As I have already said several times in my previous reviews on current trend of contemporary Bengali films. I am very happy and yet sad to see that film producers and directors are concentrating in subjects revolving more and more in north and central kolkata. These people are not realizing that by concentrating the subjects to old kolkata is resulting in subtle loss of a pan Bengal appeal. It is more of a film about north and central kolkata rather than about bengal. It's a film about life, love, hatred, family bonding,  family values of "Bonedi" families of central and north kolkata. People from old kolkata - north and central k

Bengali Film Review: Bapi Bari Ja

The title of the film Bapi Bari Ja (Bapi Go Home) is what makes the film sound somewhat like some current offbeat bengali films made in contemporary times. However, after seeing this film one can easily say that it is no where near film like, say for instance Hemlock Society. The film is set in the background of contemporary north and central kolkata. This makes me think sometimes that how can our audience from around bengal identify themselves with the socio-economic and cultural set up of kolkata with that of the place they are living in. Anyways! I leave that open for debate and to the good judgment of the film goers themselves. The film revolves around Bapi (the central character after whom the film is named), his 2 male friends and 1 female friend called Dola. In the very first 30 minutes of the film there is an entry of a new girl called Hasna who becomes a part of this friends' group for the rest of the film. Apart from Bapi (our central character of the film),

Film Review: Chitrangada

Although, the name of the film is derived from a mythological character. There is nothing related to mythology . This film is neither a remake of the dance drama staged by Rabindranath Tagore in a time period somewhere around 1892. The current  has stolen some vital concepts of Rabindranath Tagore's drama - Chitrangada and projected in the light of homosexuality. Who was mythological Chitrangada? Only child of the king of Manipur and heir to the throne. Inspite of being a girl child she was raised with all the skills required in a man. The decision of raising her as a man was totally a politically motivated decision taken by her father. When she met Arjun (one of the Pandavas'), she fell in love and wanted to be feminine enough to entice Arjun . Ultimately, they got married  on the condition that she and all her future heirs will stay back in Manipur to govern the people. Who is the Chitrangada of Rituporno Ghosh's Chitrangada? A 45+ aged stage director w

Big Boss 4: A suicide of logic

I am 25+ year old guy who goes to office and returns home at 8:30-pm very day with a 2 days off on Saturday and Sunday. Let me tell you in the very first place that I am not at all a viewer of Big Boss. It doesn't mater to me whether it is season 1 or season 10. I am averse to all forms of reality shows. After all days work and travelling back after an hour long journey, i hardly have any mentality to listen to some celebrity fighting over- who should go to the bathroom or gym first??!!??!! I find it both frustrating and amusing to see that people are glued in to see 2 celebrity fight!!! As if they have never seen a quarrel in their life or haven't quarrelled themselves in their entire life. Indian film industry produces enough shit every year.yes, I agree that there are some really thoughtful and good films that come up now and then like- a Wednesday, black and white, etc. I have often seen in my neighborhood that when elders quarrel children are moved out and packed i

Film Review:English Vinglish

Although, I don't hear it often but sometimes it comes my ear that Bollywood movies are labelled as to much colour with little substance. I don't totally disagree with them. I often thought that why the Bollywood film industry don't take this perspective up and do a self criticism of the quality of films, especially their story lines. Why does scriptwriters take absurdity to such extremes and still keep the absurdity very much apparent. Star Wars series, Harry Potter Series is absurd too but packaged well.Anyways, I completed seeing this film called "English Vinglish". I don't get time to see the entire film at a stretch.Hence, I saw it in parts downloaded in my brother-in-law's PC and after completing seeing this film, I thought it would be a great idea to share it with people around the world. I don't get much response from my wife. She doesn't see things so critically as I do. The story-line of this is very simple and straight but present
