How using a dishwasher brought relief to my family and how I use it?

 Making the choice

I came across several youtube videos on dishwasher initially. I am a tech savvy person and love to automate repeatative tasks and I have a goal to automate most of my household repeatative tasks. So, that we get quality time together and are not dependent on domestic help for heavy lifting. We have children and not a large family where she would receive support in child daily activities from family seniors.

As a result, we are very much on our own and have to depend on our own time management and on machines - washing machine, refrigerator, 2 wheelers, amazon scheduled deliveries, dishwasher for our comfort and daily work needs.

Deciding on the machine

I checked different dishwasher online and zeroed in on Voltas beko 8 place set. It is the smallest and the cheapest machine with the highest review in the online e-commerce space.I also did a market study to see if the dishwasher specific detergents are available offline. It is not available.

I also went to a local electronics retailer and found only 1 model of dishwasher from LG larger than my requirement and priced at around INR 50,000, whereas the voltas beko 8 place set costed me around 17,000.

Interesting Finds: Post Purchase

• Do not buy external water hardness removal related attachments. Buy Dishwasher salt instead, there is a tank of 1 Kg dishwasher salt,at the floor of the dishwasher, which runs for about 1-2 month depending on the number of time you use your dishwasher per day and the hardness of your water.
• the youtube channels personal or professional (product review types) didnt highlight the importance of rinsing liquid, dishwasher salt. So, I assume they havent fully utilized all the features of the dishwasher.
  
• Finish is a dishwasher cleaning product brand - dishwasher salt, dishwasher detergent, dishwasher rinsing liquid.
• Dishwasher rinsing liquid, dishwasher detergent and dishwasher salt is compulsory for overall performance. Dishwasher rinsing liquid is NOT COMPULSORY ONLY FOR 30 MIN MINI WASHES.
• Dishwashers dont come with in-built voltage stabilizers. Therefore, power fluctuations can damage the machine or blow its fuse. As a result, I have installed a Microtek EM4160+. I am using the very same stabilizer model for my Airconditioner.
•  Depending on the type of wash a dishwasher normally takes 2 and half hour to 2 hour 45 minutes roughly.
• Dishwasher will not work if connected via a plug point. It requires same type of cable and plug point like a air conditioner - 15 ampere plug point with a fuse, indicator light, a female plug point and a switch on the switch board connected to the main line.My stabilizer is connected to this switch board and my diswasher is connected to the stabilizer.
• the power cord of Dishwasher is not very long. So, plan placement of the stabilizer, plug point, drain outlet and dishwasher accordingly.
• the Inlet tap of a dishwasher is different from an inlet connector of a washing machine. It is a metal tap and inexpensive (within INR 100 material price) and widely available. I live in a tier 2 city.
  
• the diswasher drain outlet pipe is half the radius of a washing machine's outlet pipe.So, if you are keeping it on a trolley beside your washbasin, both the basin outlet pipe of your kitchen and dishwasher's own outlet pipe can drain through the same "nali" / outlet of your kitchen.
  
• Please use a trolley to mount / place your dishwasher.
• Dishwasher doent make a lot of sound like washing machine and doesnt have many moving parts. It has 3 main components - heater, inlet and outlet pump and sensors for water, detergent, power problems. As a result, dishwasher is much less prone to defect than a washing machine.
• Remove all food particles from plates before placing inside dishwasher.
• My dishwasher can clean 1 large 1 medium pressure cooker, 1 non stick kadhai, 4 plates, curry bowls, spoons, cooking laddle, etc in 1 go with heavy program setting.
• After cleaning is complete, just slightly open the dishwasher front lid and let the hot vapour escape and then take out the utensils.
• Dishwasher salt and Dishwasher detergent looks the same i.e., large grained sugar cubes but white in colour.
  
• If there is power cut, dishwasher will start from where it left like a washing machine.
• I received no demo from Voltas Beko, I purchased online from amazon.in

The Relief Part

We are not scared of our domestic help taking unnecessary and undeclared leaves. My wife can take care of the kid, sleep, simply relax on the time the dishwasher is cleaning the utensils. Operational cost is not expensive. The product itself is not expensive to buy.
