How I managed my more than 3 years old router TP Link Archer V7 without discarding it
I am a permanent user of TP Link brand from the time I started using internet from around 2007 onwards. I find the Tp link routers best for home and small and medium office usage. the systems dont get heated uo quickly and easy to use interface. Now higher end versions like INR 2000+ models have mesh, VPN and cloud management support which can be controlled via Tplink android app, which is quite nice for system administrators in office as well as person who is managing and troubleshoot their home router on the go.
I am using multiple IOT device(IR blaster, smart plug from oakter), mobile and amazon fire TV Stick, computers connected to this router. The router has 2 bandwidths 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. It has openvpn which is an opensource VPN module and you can run the router as a server for this VPN and all connected device which is capable of installing the client application of openvpn server.
I got a good Norton antivirus deal for 1 Pc 3 years license for roughly INR 1500. But as per government rule, VPN server needs to be in India as a result Norton VPN which came free is by default deactivated. Anyways! coming back to the main point. I recently saw my router to be freezing. So, I purchased a programmable switch of elektrotek from Amazon India.
I have used programmable switches earlier too to automate switching on and off of mosquito repellants in home, kitchen exhaist fans. I created 4 schedules on my programmable switch and I am getting good jiuce out of my router now. I created 1 minute switchoff time on my programmable switch with a 4 hour gap.
I hope my readers will also get good value out of it. I would also like to point out that I amusing the latest firmware of my router. My previous firmware update possibly had a bug which slowed the router down.
