LAN or Ethernet connection not working.What to do???
There can be several causes of Ethernet or LAN connection faulure.There are several hardware components and other windows settings that can be involved in correcting the problem. In Ethernet connection or LAN connection problem. The very basic connection related issue is no power supply. In case of absence of Ethernet connection due to absence of power supply.you will see..... no link light at the port which connects the RJ45 cable. In this regard, I would like to enlighten my readers that the port where you insert the LAN or the Ethernet cable is called RJ45 port. There are 2 lights, one green lights mostly. The green light indicates availability of power and then there is orange or Amber colour light. This light indicates that the bandwidth is above certain limit.
In case of absence of power you need to check sources outside your computer to find the cause of the fault. The LAN switch may be defective or the MC is not working. In such cases for basic checks you can cross test the machine with another LAN cable or use the desktop your your laptop/notebook/netbook in another network/ sub-network to check the machine is alright. There is another way commonly used by networking professionals to instantly check the networking is alright in the machine or not. For this you have to follow the following steps and methods to check it yourself,if network adapter card or inbuilt motherboard network card is ok or not.The steps are:-

- click start
- run
- type cmd in the run and press enter
- cmd prompt window opens
- inside you need to type 127.0.0.1
-t and press enter; This is called loop back address (This method will only work if you are using IPV4 i.e., your static/dynamic IP address is separeted by 3 dots or periods; In case of IPV6., i.e, you static or dynamic address is separated by colons rather than by dots then use) - loop back address for= ::1
- if you see see continuous reply be rest assured that your computer is ok and the problem perhaps lies with changes in your settings by an unauthorized personnel or faulty device in the network
