Getting Replacement part from DELL in one chance
Whenever you fill up the form to ask for a replacement part keep the following things in mind:-
1) you are sure about whether an onsite technician is required or not and select options accordingly
2)If you are unsure about the part you are asking for give a picture as attachment and the 20 digit valid serial number along with a picture of the serial number of that part.
3) you will be required to provide 20 digit serial number for the part and picture of the serial number for a part (say for instance a harddisk) which was not originally shipped with the system at the time of purchase. They sometimes even ask you to provide the purchase order Invoice number or a picture or a scanned image of the purchase order invoice number.
4) you are not asking the same part under the same service tag within 7 days.
5) Do not give references of high ranking people unless and until you have really taken their permission/approval (i.e, false references). This may delay your replacement part delivery or even it may be denied.
6) Be as descriptive as possible to give a better idea of the problem and the procedures undertaken to resolve the problem.
7) In case of physical damage or a safety hazard issue with your system and you dont have requisite warranty type.It is better to approach the telephone support first rather than use their web based complaint lodging system and get denied or adviced to contact the local DELL telephone support.
8) ensure you have problems mentioned about all the parts you are seeking replacement for and troubleshooting performed. Otherwise be prepared to face denial for insufficient troubleshooting or absence of problem.
