Setup email notifications in think value ip camera
1. Login through laptop or desktop browser. As long as i tried to setup this feature in imegacam app, there was some sort of error
2. I initially tried doing it with rediffmail but it didn't work out.however, i have to admit i never tried Rediff mail after i logged in into the browser based interface.
How to login in browser based web interface of think value ip camera?0
In the imegacam android mobile app go to device information and check the ip address assigned to your thinkvalue ip camera.
Type the aforementioned ip address in browser. Login dialog box opens. Your login name is - admin and password will be your custom think value camera's password that you were promoted to create when you first set your think value ip camera up.
3. Settings tab>>alarm option>> alarm sub option>>check, check box option called email alarm and send with picture. Beside this option there is a hyper link called email settings. On being clicked a new tab/window opens in your web browser
4. All points from this point onwards are applicable for gmail setup. I have created a separate email-gmail account for sending such alert messages only. Alerts are send to my official email address. The logic behind this is, if the camera is hacked, no one can reverse engineer and extract my official emailid and password.
5.smtp server name is smtp.gmail.com
5.5 do not activate 2 factor authentication, if already activated then turn off
6. server port = 465
7.safe link - SSL
8. Username and password- my new dedicated gmail id for sending alerts
9.subject- changed the subject line slightly and entered location name for think value ip camera location. For example- dinning room camera sent you an email
10. Press apply button
11. Go to to your google account(not gmail). Select option named security
12. Under security option, there is an option called less secure apps whose default value is off. Turn it on. You will get a critical security alert in your gmail, just do yes...yes.... And you are done
13. Go back to your ip camera email settings tab in your browser and press the test button. New window opens, checks connection with gmail's smtp server and gives success message.
In case it is not working check if you have missed any of my steps.
Special mention- since i am serious about internet security, i have router level firewall and honeypot running on raspberry Pi dedicatedly for this purpose.
